MTI’s Vision

Making the world
a step forward

To realize a society where our customers can be freer and live as themselves, MTI Group considers it important to develop services that are needed in each and every moment as the world keeps changing day by day and to deliver those service worldwide. Our vision is “Making the world a step forward.” As a partner walking alongside our customers in daily life, we will work to build a better society of the future by providing services that make life fuller and more convenient.

This vision of ours is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Global Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015. A better, more sustainable society in which “no one will be left behind” is consistent with the world MTI aims to build through its business activities. By leveraging the technological expertise in ICT services we have built up over many years and strengthening partnerships with customers, companies and local communities, we plan to implement a range of initiatives for the future.

Promote health in local communities

We will contribute to community health creation through collaboration with local governments.

Dissemination of knowledge and awareness raising

We have concluded collaboration agreements with local governments and created a special page in our Luna-Luna app, which provides healthcare information to support women throughout their life. We provide support in relation to pregnancy, childbirth, infertility and sterility and other healthcare issues by disseminating accurate information and raising awareness.

Local governments which have signed collaboration agreements

Saitama Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Hokkaido, Oita Prefecture, Shimane Prefecture, the city of Kitakyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture, Nagasaki Prefecture, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the city of Fukuoka in Fukuoka Prefecture (in order of execution)

Support for the creation of childcare environments within the community

In response to changes caused by social trends such as the tendency towards later marriage and later childbirth and the shift to nuclear-family households, we are collaborating with more than 400 local governments across Japan to help improve childcare environments within the community. We use ICT to provide pregnancy, birth and parenting support, including providing information released by local governments though our Boshimo mother and child handbook app. We are also promoting the digital transformation (DX) of mother and child health services through initiatives such as services parents can use to consult local government officials, midwives, public health nurses and other professionals online, and the provision of a vaccination management system which connects those bringing up children, local governments and medical institutions.

Promote understanding of women’s health

We are creating opportunities for people to access accurate information about women’s physical and mental health and working to create an environment in which all members of society support each other.

Project to spread understanding of women’s bodies and minds

MTI runs educational programs consisting of awareness-raising events and other activities, through FEMCATION, a project to spread understanding of women’s bodies and minds. FEMCATION aims to create opportunities for people to access accurate information about a variety of women’s health issues including physical and emotional changes around the time of their period, with a view to creating an environment in which all members of society regardless of age and gender support each other. Moving forward, we plan to focus on expanding the scope of our activities to promote understanding of SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights).

Collaborate with medical/research institutions

We are strengthening our collaboration with medical and research institutions, with the aim of improving the quality of healthcare for women.

Utilization of human data to promote healthcare in our society

We are conducting research on big data in collaboration with the National Center for Child Health and Development and The University of Tokyo Hospital to complement the knowledge of women’s health related problems. We are also performing research to redefine the normal values of the menstrual cycle and basal body temperature which is being conducted by the Group at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo, including Professor Tomoyuki Fujii (currently Director of Sanno Hospital) and Associate Professor Osamu Hiraike. These studies are currently supposed to be hot topics.

Facilitation of data sharing within obstetrics and gynecology departments

To make it easier for patients to give doctors accurate data about themselves, we have developed and provide the Luna-Luna Medico system, which allows gynecologists and obstetricians at partner institutions to view data registered in Luna-Luna such as date of menstruation and BBT, and condition when taking pill (OC/LEP). The system is used by more than 1,000 medical institutions.

Provide services to companies/bodies

We are strengthening collaboration with companies and educational institutions for health creation in society as a whole.

Utilization of personal health data

To support the health of individuals in a social context, we provide the health management app CARADA as a packaged service for companies, pharmacies, medical examination institutions, health insurance associations and other clients. We support health creation in a wide variety of settings including helping companies implement health and productivity management, encouraging app users to utilize their pharmacies and helping pharmacies operate more efficiently, and facilitating medical examinations, thus supporting the delivery of better healthcare by the teams that support personal health creation.

Support for sports education

To increase club activities at educational institutions and other organizations, we provide Atleta, a system which helps organizations create sports teams. Through functions such as condition and diet management, the system helps athletes to grow and improve their performance and helps solve other challenges associated with club activities.

2Promote organization
building with a high regard for diversity,
job satisfaction, equality and fairness

By embracing diversity, we will ensure everyone has access to the same opportunities and create a rewarding working environment. We will also contribute to the realization of an equitable and fair society through a commitment to compliance.

We have also introduced a framework to support pregnancy including a child plan leave system for infertility treatment and family support leave for visits to infertility clinics.

Promotion of teleworking

We have developed teleworking guidelines and are promoting teleworking as part of efforts to realize flexible work styles for working anywhere, anytime. We have introduced various new systems including a teleworking allowance, to cover utilities and communication costs associated with teleworking, a super flex system without core hours, and a remote working system, which allows employees to move far away from their place of work, and the percentage of employees coming into work is 10% (as of April 2020).

Support to balance work with nursing care

To support employees balancing work with nursing care, we have developed a system of nursing care leave which allows employees to take leave of up to 2 years in blocks, as well as regular nursing care leave and a shorter working hours system.

Promotion of improvement in operational efficiency

We are working to improve operational efficiency in various ways, including digitizing documents, automating routine work, and moving to paperless meetings.

Disaster control measures

We are using our weather forecast information communication technology in activities to minimize damage from weather-related disasters.

Improvement of traffic safety in face of wind gusts/tornadoes

Since FY2018, we have been involved in an R&D project commissioned by the Meteorological Research Institute to develop a warning system for alerting rail operators and air carriers to the danger of tornadoes and other wind gusts, as part of the Public/Private R&D Investment Strategic Expansion PrograM (PRISM) led by the Cabinet Office. By using our 3D visualization technology 3D Amagumo Weather in combination with weather forecasting data and traffic data, we aim to notify transport operators of the danger of tornadoes and other wind gusts, to support the safe operation of railways and aircraft.

Forecasting of guerrilla rainstorms

MTI has developed and provides 3D Amagumo Weather, a torrential rain forecasting app using state-of-the-art weather radar known as phased array radar to detect and provide an early warning of the rainclouds that are a precursor of guerilla rainstorms.

Mitigation of lightning risk for aircraft

MTI is conducting joint research with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to protect aircraft from lightning. Using JAXA’s algorithm for predicting clouds that generate lightning, we have succeeded in visualizing the area at risk of being struck by lightning with the help of our aeronautical meteorological system ARVI, and are thus contributing to the safe operation of aircraft.

Disaster relief donation activities

We donate part of the sales from the Life Ranger Weather regional weather information site and the 3D Amagumo Weather torrential rain forecasting app to victims in disaster-stricken areas.
